We finally got the garden completely in this weekend!
Paul leveled out the dirt pile and hauled away that nasty Georgia red clay, added the soil, manure and peat moss and told me to have at it.

In went the cantaloupe, watermelon, sweet potatoes and one Japanese eggplant. I’m so glad I turned Paul onto sweet potatoes, so looking forward to making some sweet potato dumplings in the late summer/early fall.

The garden is still looking a little ugly right now, but we’re in the process of putting in a fence – to keep the furry babies out – they love to dig. So, hopefully by the end of the week our garden will be protected from the pups and looking a little prettier.
Here’s my attempt at making us look like we live out West. It certainly seems that way from the 40 minute commute that it takes to get into the city. What do you think? It still just looks like a wheelbarrow in the suburbs – ha!
Here are the kids, the reason we moved so far outside of the city *grin*
