Red Wine, Food & Inappropriate Conversation
Plenty of wine, finger food and inappropriate conversation … just a few of the components of Hollis Gillespie’s The Shocking Real-Life Food Writing Workshop: Eat, Drink & Get Published workshop. Yesterday was spent eating, drinking and learning all about becoming a food writer.
Talk about amazing.
Some delish pistachio chocolate chip cookies that fellow workshop attendee Kristi brought for us!
Not only did we get to learn from an incredible writer (and teacher!), Hollis Gillespie, but we also had the opportunity to meet and listen to Creative Loafing’s food editor Besha Rodell and Atlanta Magazine’s Christiane Lauterbach talk about their experiences.
Such a relaxed environment, with plenty of food & drink.
Our fearless workshop leader, Hollis! (Check out all those wine bottles! We went through a lot of wine during that workshop, let me tell ya.)
Fabulous vegetarian finger food spread. Yum!
This blog, Dash of East, began as a way for me to archive and categorize all of my family’s traditional Taiwanese recipes. Now it has evolved into a sort of journal of me exploring new Asian fusion recipes, finding community events and just loving food photography.
Where do I go from here? This workshop couldn’t have happened at a more opportune time. My eyes were opened to the possibilities of a food writing career. Now, I can’t tell you how exciting this is for a lil’ ol’ web designer with a product design degree – who would love nothing more than to eat and take photos of food for a living.
Lots of ideas are roaming through my mind right now, so hopefully many exciting things are about to happen. Stay tuned!
