The Asian Cultural Experience: a two day event when the Gwinnett Center (Duluth, GA) is home to 15 Asian countries: Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. The Asian Cultural Experience recently relocated to the Gwinnett Center after being held at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens for many years.
Over the two days of the festival, there are fashion shows with traditional clothing, performances of traditional dances and martial arts and a variety of live demos, including calligraphy, pottery and vegetable & fruit carving.
This is a pretty cool event especially if you want to check out the dance and martial art performances. Though I will say that I liked it much better when it as held at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens – it was a much prettier location with other things to look at in between performances. However, still a good event nonetheless.
A few of the performances that we checked out. I especially enjoyed the Kung Fu demo by the guys from Taiwan. I must say… Asian guys who are good at kung fu = oh so attractive. Even if they are 18-19 years gold… which, now that I think about it… makes me feel like a cougar. Great.
