I’m sure you’ve seen those beautiful professional photographs of the Grand Canyon, filled with lots of color and depth. How do you get those gorgeous photos? Those photos are usually taken either at sunrise or sunset. It’s all about losing some sleep time, getting out early to capture the right light and finding the right location.
One of the most beautiful locations to view sunrise at the Grand Canyon is Yaki Point, located on the easternmost side of the Grand Canyon Village. Getting that great photo at Yaki Point wasn’t done by just staying behind the railing and the short ledge and trying to dodge the trees that are in the line of view. Sometimes to get a great photo, you have to tap into your adventurous side – just a little. This is how we did it.

Kudos to you for doing your first video!! That view must have been breathtaking in person
Thanks Niki!! We decided to shoot this video on the spot with the camera on my husband’s cell phone
The footage really doesn’t do the view justice, it was gorgeous!
Found you via #lavishconf twitter.
Love love your blog and your photography. Thanks for the tip on finding a great spot. It’s amazing what a little adventure can give you much better shot at great pictures. I need to remember to move my feet more when taking pictures.
Thanks Amy! Sometimes you gotta do what you have to do to get the perfect photo
