When you reminisce about your childhood, one food that pops into mind: Pop Tarts. Those mass produced pastries that you would heat up in a toaster and eat for breakfast or perhaps, an afternoon snack. Thanks to Candice Renyolds, the mastermind behind Red Queen Tarts, these toaster treats have gotten an organic, artisanal makeover.
Using local, organic ingredients from Georgia and heirloom cold-milled whole wheat from North Carolina, Candice crafts beautiful artistan pastries. You can easily heat up these tarts in your toaster oven and enjoy for breakfast, an afternoon snack or even as dessert after dinner.
The detail and care that is put into the packaging is stunning. This is what I found on my doorstep waiting for me when I came home from a long day of meetings:
These tarts come in the most delicious, mouth watering flavors such as: Cinnamon Apple Tatin, Lemon Blueberry, Port Poached Pear, Ruby Red Marmalade and Prosecco Fig & Brie. My favorite however, was the Chocolate Hazelnut. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, like Nutella.
The flaky, buttery tarts are topped with cane sugar and are so delicious, there is no need for icing. Hungry yet?
