As a recent vegetarian convert, I’m always on the hunt for great vegetarian eateries in Atlanta. When I found out about World Peace Cafe, I was so excited and anxious to sink my teeth into one of their veggie burgers. We finally got the chance to venture over to Roswell Road and taste their vegetarian & vegan menu this past weekend.
One of the things that really struck me about World Peace Cafe, was that not only was it a vegetarian restaurant, it served a greater purpose than just creating mouth-watering dishes. All of the proceeds from the restaurant go to support meditation classes and special events by the Rameshori Kadampa Buddhist Center.
The people who run World Peace Cafe are dedicated to making the world a better place by serving organic, fair-trade coffee, using biodegradable take-out packaging and supporting local businesses by purchasing their produce from local farmers markets.
Now, let’s get to the tasty stuff…
My husband, Paul, and I were in a burger mood so that’s what we ordered off of the menu. I got the Classic Peace Burger and Paul ordered the Southern Cheeseburger (complete with pimento cheese).
The Classic Peace Burger
I just have to say, the burgers were amazing. Amazing. It may have something to do with it being an organic, vegan burger made with oats and savory vegetables, and topped with rosemary mayonnaise.
I have never seen my omnivore of a husband devour a veggie burger so quickly. That should tell you something about the food.
