As I sit and ponder what to do with the gallon of strawberries that I brought home from Washington Farms, I think to myself…what goes well with strawberries… well, chocolate of course!
Although I do love my chocolate, I didn’t want to overpower this bread with chocolate flavor too much. So I only used chocolate chips, and did not add cocoa powder to the batter. The bread turned out very tasty and was a great combination of the chocolate and strawberry flavors. Make sure that you’re hungry when the bread comes out of the oven because you’ll want to dig right on in!
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced into small pieces
- 1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Let’s Bake!
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9″ x 5″ loaf pan.
2. Combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, salt and baking soda in large bowl and mix well.
3. Beat the eggs into the oil, then add the strawberries and chocolate chips and mix well.
4. Add strawberry mixture to flour mixture, mix together until the batter is even.
5. Pour the mixture into the loaf pan. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
6. Cut the loaf into 1/2″ slices, serve and enjoy!

SOOOO GOOD!! One of, if not ‘the’, best items you have baked. Mmmmm delicious. Can we have more? I’ll eat half of it in the car again.
Thanks! I will have to bake another loaf before I eat all the rest of the strawberries
that looks good. gosh, we need to do SOMETHING with our straweberries.
Make this bread recipe. It’s super easy, I promise!
Looks amazing Melissa!!! Unfortunately, I’m starting to rethink the trip to the farm, because it’s so far away. I really want some REAL strawberries though.
@Denise – I believe Whole Food is doing a $1.99/pint special on organic strawberries on Apr 29, if you can’t get to a strawberry farm – this may be a great option.
This looks delicious and I want to make it right now!! I just want to clarify – you wrote ” 1/2 cup tablespoons vegetable oil”. Is it a 1/2 C oil or some amount of Tbsp? I don’t want to mess this up!
Wow! I can’t believe I made that mistake! Thanks for letting me know. I’ve corrected it – it’s 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Hi there, This is currently baking in my oven. The instructions above are missing the choco chips! I added them at the end (since that’s what you do with cookies) and am hoping I didn’t mess anything up! I’ll try to post back later with my review! Thanks
When do the chocolate chips go in?
these recipes all look wonderful.
