To say that this weekend was amazing would be an understatement. It was a big food weekend in Atlanta, both the BlogHer Food conference and the first ever Atlanta Food & Wine Festival were both happening, at the same time. And I should mention… I attended both.
I was ecstatic to be a part of the inaugural Atlanta Food & Wine Festival. This is the first event of its kind in the South and boy did they do a great job with it. To sum it up, it was a great Southern food festival that celebrated the favors of this region.
The learning sessions were a great part of this event, I had the opportunity to attend Say Cheese Y’all, Natural Plate Partners, a Grilling Demo and Blogger Insight. Just look at this cheese spread from the Say Cheese Y’all session:
My favorite part, we had tasting trays while we followed along during the session. These were all Southern cheeses from two businesses: Blackberry Farm in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee and Looking Glass Creamery in Fairview, North Carolina.
From the Blogger Insight session, Tami of Running with Tweezers, Alison of Ingredients, Inc, Dennis of Ale Sharpton and Tom of Bourbon Blog. This was before the session started, I love how everyone has a different expression on their face.
The Street Cart pavilion was curated by Chefs Dan Latham and Eli Kirshtein, and provided a peek into a growing food movement across the South. We had the opportunity to sample food and drinks from across the region including trucks from Atlanta, Alabama, Mississippi and Mexico.
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post: All about the tasting tents. This for me, was the highlight of the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival.
