Land O’ Lakes with the Pioneer Woman and a Giveaway {closed}

by Melissa on July 13, 2012

As a Southern belle transplant, butter is an ingredient that should be held dear to my heart. But, for the most part, I prefer cooking with olive oil. I’m the type of gal who likes to let the flavors of the vegetables and proteins shine in her recipes, rather than covering with butter.

However, when Land O’ Lakes approached me with their new product: Butter with Olive Oil and Sea Salt, I was excited to give it a try. Butter, plus two of my favorite cooking ingredients, olive oil and sea salt, I was intrigued.

Butter Cooking Tips:
1. Butter has the lowest smoke point of all cooking oils. So, make sure to keep your heat at medium to medium low heat.
2. A little butter goes a long way, it packs a “flavor punch” so less is more.

If you think that butter is only good for baking and spreading on bread, you may be surprised that it’s a wonderful cooking ingredient as well.

Some more uses for butter:
1. Pan Sauces
2. Basting and Driggling
3. Sauteing

Now, when you think of butter, what amazing food blogger/cookbook author/Food Network tv host comes to mind?

Ree Drummond (aka. The Pioneer Woman), of course!  This woman is amazing and so sweet as well. Ree is the new face of Land O’ Lakes Butter with Olive Oil and Sea Salt. And luckily for one of you, that means winning a few of Ree’s favorite cooking utensils and her two cookbooks.

Ree’s books are what you would imagine if her blog was in print form.

All of the graphics are reminiscent of her website and each recipe comes with step by step instructions. Oh, and if you look closely you may catch glimpses of Marlboro Man, her children and basset hound, Charlie!

I would use it to sauté our veggies that we have been getting at the farmers market! We love fresh veggies and I usually sauté them in olive oil, but would love to try this new butter!

i would use as a light spread it on homemade bread; i think it would be the perfect balance to a nice, warm, whole grain loaf.

I LOVE Land O’Lakes Butter! It’s my go to butter for everything…bagels, pancakes, rolls, etc. I would use the new Olive Oil & Sea Salt blend to saute vegetables (I currently am mostly a carbs or protein girl, so I need to increase my intake of the good stuff) or make that yummy shrimp stir fry you posted about above. I would try the BBQ tofu, but for some reason tofu scares me. LOL.

I love anything with Olive Oil in it and hardly ever use butter because I love O.O. so much… I think this butter with Olive Oil would be a perfect way to use butter without losing my health benefits – it sounds yummy yummy (as does this corn/shrimp dish: welcome tonight’s dinner)!!

Just bought some beautiful chicken to pan roast this weekend. I think this butter could have been a worthy addition to my pan sauce.
