Because of love.
To celebrate this new decade of my life, I wanted to bring together as many things that I love as possible, starting with the ocean:
My favorite place in the world to be is by the sea, especially the turquoise blue waters of the Caribbean and Hawaii. Something about that magnificent blue color mesmerizes me. Oh just to be near it, by it, in it… I’m in heaven.
Sadly, I live in land locked Atlanta, so we did the next best thing: a luau themed birthday party.
What’s a luau without the food? For the party, I planned and replanned the dishes over and over until I arrived at a menu that I would be able to execute without turning into a big stress ball.

To top it all off, I was surrounded by some of the people I love most in the world, the best friends a gal could ask for.
Thanks for a great welcoming party to my thirties! It’s going to be a great decade!
For the big 4-0 maybe we’ll do the real thing and take a trip to Hawaii.
As with any party, there’s always leftovers. In this case, a lot of leftover fruit. What do you do with leftover fruit?
I’ve been on a bit of a smoothie kick lately. It’s just too easy to whip one up and get the whole family to enjoy their fruit for the day.
Psst… this one is baby friendly too!
Ingredients (serves 2)
1 ripe banana
2 cups papaya, chopped into 1/2 – 1 inch chunks
1 cup coconut milk beverage (or soy, almond or rice milk)
1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
1 tsp fresh lime juice (optional)
1 tbsp agave nectar (optional)
1/2 cup ice
Blend all ingredients except ice in a blender until smooth. Then add the ice to the blender mixture and blend until smooth.
Garnish glasses with a lime slice, if you want to be a little fancy. Serve and enjoy! If you enjoyed this post, Get free updates via RSS or Email and connect with me on
